I keep listening to a lot of songs sung by Sadhana Sargam (SS). Once in a while when I listen to Madhusree's voice, suddenly it feels like Sadhana Sargam's voice.
SS has sung great songs from several years. ARR gave major songs to SS like Snehidhane (alaipayuthe), Kalai Dhinam (new), Swasame (thenali), Karthik Raja's Un Perai Sonnale (Dum Dum Dum), which are excellently sung by SS and ofcourse many more great magical numbers. Of late, ARR is using a lot of Madhusree's voice in several songs, mostly hindi and some in Tamil also. If you notice, Mayilirahe (Ah Aah), Kabhi Neem Neem (Yuva), Pal Pal Hain Bhari (Swades), Ek Lo Ek Muft (Guru). Somehow I am not at all convinced with Madhusree's singing. I feel ARR could have used SS for all these hindi songs including Mayilirahe which I feel got spoilt although Naresh Iyer is marvellous. Wonder why ARR is sidelining SS. He may be experimental, exploring new voices, etc. He gave lot of songs to Swarnalatha once upon a time, for example in Karuthamma - Porale Ponnu Thaayi, to Kummi Adi in JOK. Swarnalatha sounds great in all these numbers and ARR's choice of voice is commendable. But wonder why ARR uses Madhusree so often. At one point ARR experimented with Nithyashree's voice as well in cinema. Thank God he gave her pure classical based songs and stopped with just a few. Nithyashree is great and my due respect to her classical singing. But again, I felt her voice did not suit playback singing very well.
Whenever I listen to SS's songs, it never leaves me with a bitter feeling, somehow Madhusree's style is not that impressive.

mm. correct madhushree is killing tamil words like hell.. esp this perundhill nee ennakku song ( mm..vera oru post illa kudum erukum :) ). gud song..
nice melody from dhina but Madhushree screws tamil words.
may be its ok for some fast paced numbers when u can pair up with udit-naryanan but not for soothing songs.
Of-late SS picked up tamil very fast and very nice.. esp ..
Dum Dum Dum( :( Karthik raja need to come back by such grt8 numbers. ), Swasme, kalai Dhinam( what a song )
(Nithya)shree.. mm haunting voice esp poov poove is good, and mama mama Unnikrishanna & Nithyasshree song is good mmy repeat mode numbers to stir memories.
i feel u should have posted a blasting post for madhushree.
and a comparing post for SS Vs SG ( SadhanaSargam & Shreya Ghosal ).. would be tight competition.
Now it become a apples to organes comparision.. i donna have more point to discuss. :(
IMHO.. i donna much of hindi numbers so i am shrinking my comment only to what i know.
how about Tu Bin Bataye song in RDB. quite a few numbers in Hindi which i look far.

reason i made this comparison was, Madhusree tries to imitate / copy SS to a great great extent, although in vain. That's my point and ARR is using her too frequently although her rendering is not good.
SS is great, much much better than Shreya Ghoshal, at one point SS was even compared to Lata Mangeshkar level. SS has great knowledge of classical, hindustani music and is a maestro. No comparison with Madhusree, Shreya also to an extent. SS is excellent in live shows. The other day, she sang one tamil song, composed by IRR for which she had won National award, in the recent IRR show on Jaya TV. Try to get that if possible. Listen to her, its amazing. Dono why ARR is doing this. Thats my bitter feeling.
Tu Bin Bataye - yes Madhusree is okay...in that. Again Naresh tops in that.
Among all other critics her half baked tamil cooked some different melodies

Hey there... just came across this blog... im surprised u r so against Madhushree. Yes, its ok to praise SS, but to ridicule Madhushree to make SS sound superior only shows Madhushree is threatening SS's place.
Bro, being a Madhushree fan, i can clearly tell u whats special in Madhushree's song.
She can go up high in a certain level [rendition] without a single crack in her voice. SS on the other hand if she goes high pitch it squeaks....
Another point, when listenin to Madhushree's song, u can clearly hear she is smiling while singing everyline... in short, her emotion in songs r in top form. For instance listen to Kabhi Neem Neem... Or in Tamil listen to "Yelo Yelo - Kokki". Her Tamil diction there is very good and her emotion r awesome....
Madhushree sounds similar to SS, but falls under the sweeter note. If u ask me, the songs sung by Madhushree cannot be justified by SS. Yes, SS has great knowledge in music and such, but that doesnt mean Madhushree is any less.
Listen to her numbers in Tehzeeb. those 3 ghazal fussion will outdone any SS songs..... not even SS can sing those numbers as good as Madhushree...
